Amplify Education, Inc. is looking for a content writer that is passionate about reading and education to join their team.
Our highly collaborative team is building a new close reading component that teaches students to unpack a complex text deliberately and thoroughly allowing them to establish understanding and develop a deep analysis.
To do this, we need a content writer who ‘gets’ both text and young adolescent learners; who is ready to think creatively about close reading skills; and who loves traditional pen and ink but is inspired by the possibilities of digital tools.
***This is a contractor/ temporary position for 9 months, with the possibility for contract extension and/or full-time employment. The candidate will work full-time hours, either on-site in our DUMBO office or #remotely.
Responsibilities of the Content Writer:
Create digital close reading lessons and instructional content for Grades 4-5.
Identify text excerpts and elements that highlight the workings of the text and provide insight into meaning
Craft interactive activities that support the learning goal for each lesson
Collaborate with designers, developers, content producers to bring lessons to life on the Amplify platform
Basic Qualifications of the Content Writer:
BA in English, Education or Humanities, and/or strong content background in literary genres and critical analysis.
3+ years education experience in Grades 4-5
Experience creating challenging and engaging literacy lessons and writing curricula
Preferred Qualifications of the Content Writer:
Experience creating curricula that integrates different genres, technologies, mediums
Experience teaching a diverse range of learners
Comfort with classroom technology
