This position is for 35- 40 hours per week, dependent on project needs. The Customization Development Manager oversees the development of custom courses, including researching technical project specifications and accurately documenting course development details.
The Customization Development Manager works closely with other subsets of the Custom Solutions team and also communicates with other K12 teams including the project manager as needed for successful course development and to ensure that custom courses adhere to the company’s style guidelines and best practices for course design.
A CUSTOMIZATION DEVELOPMENT MANAGER:
Apples advanced knowledge of course structures, CALMS, accessibility requirements, and details relevant to course approvals and alignment to K12’s best practices for course design to ensure that course creation is consistent and seamless from planning stages through to mastering.
Independently researches and documents base course scopes and sequences and technical details surrounding the request for a custom course.
Analyzes course components and makes recommendations to Customizations team on technical and structural elements required for successful development of a new customization.
Integrates course upgrades and other changes in technology into customized development processes and documentation.
Independently maintains documentation throughout the course build to the QA and publishing stages of each assigned course, and socializes relevant information to various team members for successful building of courses and as an archive for completed customizations.
Manages course documents including file structure, naming conventions, assessments, assets, tickets and subtickets, ensuring consistency and quality and handling the movement of these pieces through the development process from the initial design phase through publication of the courses.
Ensures that K12 Style Guidelines and best practices for course design and development are followed.
Acts as liaison between curriculum teams, project manager, visual designers, information specialists, alignment and assessment specialists, editors and writers to ensure that all course components are funneled to the appropriate parties, while adhering to and informing project schedules.
Informs and collaborates with team regarding processes, and documentation of processes to ensure team integrates technological changes that impact course development.
Effectively utilizes various technological tools to complete the above listed tasks.

REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree AND Three (3) years of experience working in the publishing or media industries as a copy editor or asset manager OREquivalent combination of education and experience
OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.);
Web proficiency
Strong technology skills
Strong written and oral communication skills, including good interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple tasks at once with efficiency, high standards and attention to detail
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education experience and/or experience working with curriculum, standards and testing
Experience working with content management systems or learning management systems
