A top health communications organization, is in search of its newest Medical Editor - Proofreader for a remote opportunity.
The Editor - Proofreader's primary responsibility is the editing and proofreading of pharmaceutical and biotech manufacturer client training deliverables (promotional and non-promotional) and transforming information into knowledge via PowerPoint deck presentations.
The Editor - Proofreader must ensure that all content is of the highest editorial quality, is in accordance with our clients' policies.
Editor - Proofreader Responsibilities:
Edit, format, and proofread scientific content in a variety of deliverables (e.g., slide presentations for advisory board meetings and speaker training, sales training modules, brochures, scientific posters) in a paperless environment.
Fact-check a high volume of content and annotations against primary sources (eg, peer-reviewed scientific journals, medical textbooks).
Ensure that content aligns with the client's medical, legal, and regulatory requirements and processes.
Ensure that content aligns with the AMA Manual of Style, 10th Edition.
Create and maintain style guides and develop other educational tools for each assigned team.
Support the Program Management Department by tagging and linking documents in a proprietary electronic system.
Support the Information Specialist by obtaining permissions and ordering references.
Editor - Proofreader Requirements:
4+ years' editorial experience, including 3 years in the pharmaceutical / medical communications industry.
Experience in editing non-CME promotional content is preferred.
Experience in the advertising industry may be considered.
High level of proficiency in using Microsoft Word and PowerPoint applications and Adobe Acrobat comment and markup tools.
Intimate knowledge of the latest edition of the AMA Manual of Style.
Familiarity with general scientific concepts and ability to grasp more complex scientific applications.
Ability to adhere to various client-specific style guides.
Proficiency in conducting Internet searches (particularly of PubMed).
Knowledge of standard proofreaders' symbols.
Familiarity with the process of publishing scientific / clinical manuscripts.
Additional Editor - Proofreader Qualifications Considered:
Editor in the Life Sciences (ELS) certification.
Certified Medical Publication Professional (CMPP) credential.
