I have written a 70K-word novella and need a competent and professional editor to prepare the book for publication.
Besides basic proofreading to correct spelling, typos, punctuation, and grammatical errors, the manuscript needs someone to review for diction, syntax, sentence structure, flow, style, tone, and transitions.
I'm looking for detailed feedback on the overall storyline and continuity; using MS Word's "comment" and "track changes" features. I also want to include one-on-one time with the editor by phone or Skype, to discuss any comments and/or suggestions he or she may have.
In addition, as a first-time author, I am open to some developmental editing ideas such as structure, narrative, character development, voice, style, and pacing.
You should be experienced with manuscript review and have prefect command of the Chicago Manual Style of writing. You should also be able to provide examples of editing word you have completed in the past, or you can provide a sample edit of the few pages contained below. You should also be capable of finding several editing examples in the above text.
If you are interested in working with the manuscript, please reply with the following:
- Name and contact information - Relevant work history - Sample edit (of your own of from the attached copy) - Payment requirements (How much will you charge for your services)
I would prefer someone that can provide a price for the whole job, rather than an hourly rate; however, hourly pay would also be acceptable for the right candidate. Please provide a rate for the completed work or by the hour or by the word.
If you would like to review a further sample of the work, please reply and additional pages can be emailed.
For any motivated would-be editor, the following sample is provided to allow the showcasing of your skills. Please feel free to edit and provide feedback on the following section of the manuscript, and/or the above text and post as a whole.
