We have a unique opportunity to offer at Lasher Media. We are seeking freelance writers that can write articles and listicles for a long-term work relationship. Please only apply if you are a native-English speaker who wants regular, weekly work for the foreseeable future. Our business is taking off and showing no signs of slowing down. This is a remote/telecommuting position. Work from anywhere as long as you are US-based. This is an independent contractor position.
We need content created on a variety of topics that include:
Child-rearing (pieces on infancy through teens).
We don't discriminate and will want to know what ages you are comfortable writing on, because we know written content comes across best when it's natural.
Content will focus largely on natural birth and parenthood. This is the perfect gig for a "crunchy mom," but it's certainly not to limited to such. We love moms and we want to give them a voice.
Here's where that unique opportunity comes in.
All of this content will be prepared for a new site we're launching in the Spring of 2019. Our future site will expand upon pregnancy and childbirth, with a strong emphasis on making sure women are fully informed of their rights to birth the way they choose. We love a good evidence-based piece that explains to moms why C-sections are statistically over-performed and how she can avoid one, but we also know some moms just need to know what it's going to feel like to give birth and how to prepare for warding off postpartum mood disorders.
We want to hear it all!
We have lots of topics to choose from but we are also open to your pitches! What's the trade-off for you for a job that isn't yet compensated? Glad you asked. Once our site goes live, you get a byline on each of your articles that links to your own author page (where you can complete a bio linking to your own blogs, etc and upload your photo if you choose).
This is a great opportunity for writers who are tired of ghostwriting and desire a label for their work to get their foot in the door with more established publishers.
And of course... writers who really show us what they're made of will be asked to stay on as paid freelancers after the site is running and monetized.
A signed W-9 will be required once compensation plans are in place. But first, we need content in order to launch!
Deadlines are important.
Typically, when we assign a topic, we'd like to see that content delivered within 24 to 36 hours. The good news is, the more good and timely work you submit to us, the more we will send you. Ideally, we'd like to see 2-3 piece per week from each writer, minimum. Some will be short blogs, others will be lengthy and well-researched pieces.
The majority of the content requested will need to be in listicle format. For example, a headline might be:
"20 Ways Millennials Are Killing It As Parents"
or "20 Things Veteran Moms Wish They Knew Before They Had Their First Child"
or "25 Baby Girl Names Fit For A Southern Belle"
or "10 Reasons Moms Are Choosing Home Birth--And 10 Reasons Some Still Prefer The Hospital"
Our writing style is casual and blog-like. Still, credible sources are important.
We will want to see links directing us to where you found any facts or quotes that you cite in the content. We are here to help if you struggle sometimes with outlining what subheadings to use, etc, but for the most part, we are looking for self-driven writers who can handle this type of task on their own.
Good grammar and punctuation skills are necessary.
We are looking for writers with a mixture of talent and experience (even if you haven't been published). We will work with you to hone the correct style and tone that we are looking for. In return, we expect work that is turned in on time.
Let us know if you'd like to complete (1000-word) test article and move forward. Thanks!
